Who We Serve

Built for Adults Living with Serious Mental Illness

Empowerment Estates is dedicated to serving adults (18 years and older) living with serious mental illness (SMI) who are capable of semi-independent living with appropriate supportive services. Our community is designed for individuals whose mental health conditions have created barriers to stable housing, independence, and community integration.

Eligible residents may include individuals diagnosed with:

Schizophrenia spectrum disorders
Schizoaffective disorder
Bipolar I or Bipolar II disorder
Major Depressive Disorder with significant functional impairment
PTSD with ongoing functional limitations
Generalized Anxiety Disorder when it substantially affects independent living
Co-occurring behavioral health conditions (not requiring 24-hour skilled nursing care)

Residents must be medically stable and able to participate in community living with individualized supports.

Specialized Population

Empowerment Estates also recognizes that serious medical conditions can significantly affect mental health. As part of its mission, the organization may provide housing opportunities for individuals diagnosed with cancer or other chronic illnesses when those individuals are also experiencing a qualifying serious mental health condition that affects independent living. The primary qualifying factor remains the individual's mental health needs rather than the medical diagnosis itself.

Depression related to a cancer diagnosis or treatment
Anxiety associated with cancer treatment or survivorship
PTSD following intensive medical treatment
Emotional distress that substantially impairs independent functioning

Adults living with serious mental illness often face significant barriers that threaten their housing, health, and quality of life.

Every person deserves a safe place to call home and the support to thrive within a community that cares.

Limited access to affordable housing
Higher rates of homelessness and housing instability
Increased psychiatric hospitalizations
Social isolation
Unemployment or underemployment
Difficulty accessing coordinated health and community services

Housing Plus Support, Lasting Stability
